Our History
SULO has been the technological leader in the manufacture of garbage bins for more than 100 years, beginning with the manufacture of metal waste bins then branching into collection and culminating in 1975 with the development of the modern plastic Mobile Garbage Bin (MGB).
Founded in Germany, in 1890, SULO remained a family owned company until its sale in 2004 to a consortium of investors. With the success of Mobile Garbage Bin (MGB) technology during the 1970’s SULO established an Australian subsidiary company in 1983.
Since this time SULO MGB Australia has continually lead the marketplace through its innovative technology and provides the waste, recycling and recovery industry throughout Australia and the South Pacific with the largest range of mobile waste containment solutions.
In March 2005 SULO MGB Australia became 100% Australian owned, following a Management Buy Out of the Australasian operations from its German parent. The separation arrangements have allowed for an ongoing technical and commercial relationship between the two companies, ensuring the maintenance of the highest design and technical standards for the future.
In July 2006 SULO incorporated a small family owned rotational moulding company, called Rabbit Plastics. This incorporation provided SULO with an opportunity to increase its range of commercial waste products.
Our Facility
Operating a state-of-the-art injection moulding plant SULO MGB Australia manufactures high quality, durable containers and provides access to a world of waste management expertise through the SULO Group.
SULO MGB Australia has one of the most automated Mobile Garbage Bin (MGB) manufacturing facility in the world, and utilise the most up-to-date Husky injection moulding equipment together with X, Y and Z (3 dimensional) positioning robots to ensure the wheelie bins are handled efficiently and with care, keeping product quality top of mind.
The initial investment in the Australian factory was in excess of $50 Million. Through continued investment in new injection moulds and preventative maintenance programs SULO MGB Australia ensures that the manufacturing facility runs at maximum efficiency with minimum down time.
Our Process
SULO is one of many companies that are known as Polymer Processors. The polymer processing industry in Australia and New Zealand is relatively small, by international standards, but is an extremely important part of the manufacturing industry.
Polymer processors are manufacturers that take virgin raw materials and convert them into finished products for the consumer. SULO MGB Australia has the ability to process both virgin and recycled material into a range of waste and recycling containers.
The machinery that SULO MGB Australia uses to convert the raw material into a Mobile Garbage Bin is called an injection moulding machine. This machine is a complex device that uses hydraulic operating systems to drive the various parts.
