10 Million Reasons to celebrate...

Date 01 February 2011

Yesterday SULO MGB Australia officially celebrated the manufacture of its 10 Millionth bin and 14 years of production on the Central Coast of New South Wales with an onsite event and the unveiling of the gold 10 millionth bin.

The Somersby production plant opened in December of 1996 and has been delivering bins into the Australian market ever since. Managing Director, Michael Huston, believes part of the success of such an achievement is the dedication and loyalty of staff “employing 60 staff locally, we have 23 employees who were presented with long service awards, ranging from 5 to over 14 years of long service. We are very proud of our team who have worked hard to achieve the manufacture of over 10 million bins”.

To mark the achievement an onsite celebration event was held with over 90 guests attending to witness the unveiling of the gold bin. Guest speaker Barry O’Farrell, Leader of the Opposition stated that SULO should be proud of their achievement “10 million bins is a significant number and SULO should be commended not only as a local manufacturer but as an Australian manufacturer”. Following his speech, Barry O’Farrell presented Michael Huston on behalf of SULO with a commemorative plaque and unveiled the gold bin.

John Kernahan, SULO’s Director of Sales and Marketing contributes the company’s success to its customers who have continually provided support “we would like to thank our customers. It’s no use making 10 million mobile garbage bins if no one buys them. We have a number of customers in the audience who together, have provided SULO with the opportunity to manufacture such an outstanding number of MGBS”.

With the technologically advanced injection moulding machines utilised in the production plant, SULO was able to calculate the exact time the 10 millionth bin was due to be manufactured allowing it to be made from a special gold plastic. Local Councils who have contributed to the success of SULO’s achievement were present at the event and each presented with a commemorative gold wheelie bin in recognition of their support.
